ckfred Posted February 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I'm currently booked for a cruise on the FOS in cabin 8710, which is on the corner, aft. I've seen that the problem with this cabin is that it doesn't have a sliding glass door, but rather something like a screen door, and no porthole. The corner cabins on deck nine have a screen door and a porthole. So, 8710 and 8410 tend to be dark. Would I be better off switching to cabin 8412? In looking at the deck plans, it has a sliding glass door to the balcony, but it may have a smaller balcony than 8710.

As someone, who has used inside cabins, less light coming in through the windows makes some GREAT sleeping in mornings. ;) I think I would be temped more by the bigger balcony. They do not have less lights and at night I have never found the cabins to be too dark.
ckfred Posted February 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted February 14, 2014 My wife usually wakes up before dawn. My son gets up at the crack of dawn. My wife can turn on every light in our bedroom/hotel room/cabin, and it doesn't phase me.
uncle John Posted February 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Never had either one but did have cabins above and below. I did like the single door since it was easy to open since some slider are hard to pull. Not sure how dark it would be without the large porthole window seat. Corner Balconies are usually larger but some not that much bigger but do have room for extra chair if needed.
