The day was coming to a close and we needed to head back to the room for our final evening onboard. I had to snap one more whale tail...

After packing up and placing our luggage in the hallway we headed off to the casino to play a little more and then cash in what we had won... not much I can tell you that!

This is the Casino bar...looking a bit empty...

and the Martini Bar...

It was now time for our last dinner on board...

The Maître'd gets ready to have the wait staff send us all off in song...

So this next part is a bit personal.....Our cruise was ending on February 2. Vanda and I do a little thing we call the 14 days of Valentine. Starting on February 1st, I will give Vanda a little gift each day leading up to Valentines Day. We have done this as long as I can remember. So as we were on the cruise I needed to come up with something..so during the day I had some roses sent to our room for her and I decided to do a cake for the table on our last night. Our table waiter, Vijay was extremely helpful in setting this up.

So this was Vanda's first day of Valentine.... The cake says, "Happy 14 days of Valentine" (in case you cant make it out).

They even sang a song for her...

Two thirds of the time we cruise with friends or family.,of the times we have cruised solo, it has been so much more fun when we have met fun people either through our roll call or dinner mates to hang with. It really can make a cruise memorable.

Looks like you had lots of fun.

So the cruise was drawing to a close... I mentioned earlier that we had a fun dinner table with some wonderful people... here they all are...

We also started up a new and great friendship with our newlywed friends Mike and Jerilyn....

Before we knew it the cruise was coming to a close... the ship was pretty dead in most areas the final night... we had some final drinks with our friends and then we made our way back to our room for one last night... in line with my 14 days of Valentine theme which had just started, we came back to room and found this...

The morning would find us having breakfast and debarking around 9:00 am. Our flight back to the cold was at noon so we had plenty of time and our trip home was uneventful...thus my ability to do this review...

To sum things up... we had a blast on this cruise... We had no complaints right from the start. We found our fellow passengers to be friendly and considerate and ran into none of the horror stories we sometimes read about on CC. I am a big believer that if you treat the world around you with respect and kindness you will seldom run into problems. Life is way to short to allow negativity from others to ruin your day... especially a day while on vacation.

I give this ship a solid 10. I can't say much about the entertainment because for the most part we entertained ourselves and seldom went to the shows... I do however miss the calypso bands on the open decks... I think Carnival should bring them back. The DJ's were ok as long as they played the music that suited the Caribbean.. If I want to listen to club music I can go to the club!

The food was fabulous... I found the dining room menus to have great selection/choices and we were never disappointed. Our servers were some of the best I have ever experienced on any of my cruises.

The ship was clean and well maintained. I am sure Freedom will look even better after her upcoming dry dock and upgrades.

Bar services was great both on the outside deck and inside bars. No complaints at all! We were well taken care of...

Embarkation was a breeze and I didn't see any need to take that FTTF pass... but that's just my opinion. As I said we were on-board and in our rooms within an hour of embarking. Likewise, disembarkation was also a breeze. Was even easy to find a cab outside the port...

All I can say is well done Carnival and you can be sure you will see me again.

I also want to thank all of you for following along and I hope you have gotten something out of my review. I am planning to do another one over on the Celebrity page regarding our 30 days on Solstice ..its late but I am sure folks won't mind.

If you have any questions or comments I would love to hear them as it really makes doing this even more fun with some interaction. So on that note... thanks for following along and I hope to see you on a future cruise...

Bye for now folks...

This is one of the best reviews I have ever read here. Your photos are amazing, and brought back some great memories of ports ( St Thomas and St Martin ) as well as the Freedom. Love the photos of San Juan too, and they helped me plan my day there when I cruise in Nov. Thanks again for sharing, and I will look forward to reading/seeing a great review from you again in the near future:)

I stumbled upon this review and found out you are from my hometown, small world. Although I don't recognize either of you I think your wife looks a bit like Sheila McCarthy, if you know who she is. Your review was wonderful, we have thought about going on the Carnival Freedom. Love, loved your pictures, it was like you were right there, so thanks for sharing them. We are getting ready to go on our 2nd cruise on the Freedom of the Seas, our 1st was on the Carnival Dream and loved it. I will be looking for your review of Australia etc, I bet that was awesome. Can't wait to get away from this cold and snow.

We normally cruise with friends or family as well. I think a cruise is an easy way to meet people. We met one couple on our second cruise and we have since cruised with them at least 5 times!

Thanks for the great review and pictures of the Freedom. I am going on a back to back(May3,May10)Freedom cruise this year. Really looking forward to it because this has been a brutal winter in Chicagoland. Even had a snowstorm on March 1st!

Question-In St.Thomas did you dock at Havensight or Crown Point?

Thanks especially for the photo of your cabin. I have an inside cabin(but just for myself) on the empress deck, also a cabin around the corner from stairs and elevator, tho there is an empty space next to one side of my cabin.

Thanks again for the great review! Kendra

I have really enjoyed this review and your pictures were awesome! We were on the Freedom 6 day western last summer and are going back on the Freedom this June after the dry dock on the 8 day, only difference with your cruise is we go to St. Kitts, rather than St. Thomas. Loved the ship and crew.

Again, thank you for the time spent on this fantastic review and I am glad you had so much fun!:):)

Thanks and we were docked at the Havensight location or West Indian Company Dock as its originally called. This is the one with the Senor Frogs as soon as you get off the ship..

Well isn't that something...a small world indeed. I am originally from Toronto but my wife is a lifer in Stratford. She was a purveyor of fine spirits in Stratford for a number of years, so if you frequented the store you may very well have seen her! Once you start cruising you get hooked... enjoy... and yes the winter has been brutal!

I have loved the review and the photos, especially one that was photo bombed. LOL

Seriously, your review and photos are very helpful as we plan on our Dec. 13, 2014 cruise on the Freedom. I know it is scheduled for some changes, but I've loved seeing it as it is now.

Thanks for all of the beautiful views of the ports and all of your activities. Your review is one that I will be reading again between now and Dec.
