Ruins in August?

I am going to Progresso on the Elation in mid-August. Could people tell me about their experience at any of the ruins in August. Was the heat really bad? Was there shade to stand in? How long did you actually have at the ruins?
Was there a lot of climbing or mainly flat? Would you do it again? Thanks!

Almost no shade at Chichen Itza except on the short walk down to the Cenote.

Very easy walking. Very level. Very worthwhile to see. $10 fee for taking a camcorder.
