kalypso333 Posted February 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2014 I recently booked through a distant TA. Overall I paid less than the Celebrity site price. $1600 pp total compared to $1650 plus taxes. My invoice states approx $1200 plus $400 in fees and taxes - unusually high fees and taxes. Does this seem to be a ploy to avoid price decreases? Anyone else experience this. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
RealDeal Posted February 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2014 I think TAs just break it down differently, but I've never seen this cause an issue with drops. I think they have a category for the non-commissionable part of the fare or something, and then there are taxes. I always use a TA & have never had an issue w/a drop. Karynanne Posted February 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Our TA breaks down the cruise fare and port charges and taxes. Where are you cruising? Ports charges vary according to itineraries.
CathyCruises Posted February 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Have you ever looked closely at airfares? I've seen the 'airfare' at $150 and 'taxes and fees' at $500!!! I don't think it means a thing--on the cruise we're looking at, port charges are $250 and taxes are $85. So yours seems really right in line.
