Conquest Review - July 10 - July 17

By the magic of Hurricane Dennis, our seven day cruise turned into a six day cruise. I will start off by saying the the entire cruise exceeded our expectations. My wife and I are in our 50's and have cruised 7 previous times over the last 15-20 years. We both enjoy it alot.

Because of the delayed sailing, we were told to be at the pier by 10am. We showed uo at 7:45 as the ship was beginning to debark passengers. The staff allowed us to sit inside in the famous yellow chairs by the door and actually checked us in and brought us our sign and sail cards by 8:30. At this point we just had to wait out the departing quests and were on board by 11:15 or so.

The ship needed a little attention as the crew was trying to tidy up the corridors as passengers were being taken on board. No one's fault here.

We had an adequate room stewart - not bad and not exceptional. Our wait staff and Somolier (?spelling) were exceptional and we tipped them extra during the week to show our appreciation. It was returned in spades with even better service!

We enjoy the whirlpools and all of them were out of service for "upgrades". This was a disappointment to us, but one learns in life to roll with the punches. We did not let it ruin our atitudes, etc. We both used the gym almost every day and it is large and comfortable.

We enjoyed the "Rocky Horror show" movie and audience participation. Do not miss it. Kevin (staff) is a hoot.

The cruise staff is excellent and like previous posters had said, do not miss the ventriloquist. The shows we saw were all good and we enjoyed them. I enjoyed the Casino, but was not fortunate to walk away a winner!

The food in the dining rooms was very good. We both low carb diet and were able to make do without a lot of effort. We only discovered the uostairs dining in the Lido on the last day. Explore this area as they serve different food than in the Lido buffets! Wished we had discovered it sooner.

The ship overall was in good shap. I must comment that almost without exception, all of the children we saw were very well behaved. Kudos to the parents.

We skipped Jamaica because of the delayed sailing. In Grand Caymen we did Captain Marvin's 2 hour snorkel and stingray city tour. Well worth the $34.00 per person for the service and individual attention.

In Cozumel we shopped - my wife's love! I went along as the official barterer. We did have fun.

This has rambled on and if you have any specific questions i can answer feel free to ask. These boards have helped me and I wanted to "pay ahead" to anyone who might need help.
