Vancouver customs

Hi all,

We will be staying in downtown Vancouver for a few days after our cruise in late May. Our flight out is at 8 am. Could anyone tell me how early we should be at the airport? And how long it would take to go through customs that early in the morning. Could not find any recent threads on this subject.

Thanks

The official answer is two hours prior to your flight time. From a practical perspective with the new passport scanning kiosks at YVR pre CBP clearance I suspect something less than that for an 0800 flight will work just fine. You will be travelling against the rush hour traffic but allow 35 minutes to get from downtown to YVR.

Thanks for the input!

If you are taking Skytrain, most (many) of the stations have airport check-in terminals with boarding pass printed in the station lobby. Then when you get to the airport you just need to head to baggage drop off and customs.

After our Alaska cruise, we disembarked in Vancouver and spent the night in a hotel. We travelled from YVR to PHX. We expected to go through the usual customs procedure once we arrived in PHX. Instead, we filled out the customs form and went through the customs procedure/face-to-face questions in YVR prior to entering the terminal that our flight departed from. It made it much easier once we arrived in PHX.
