SOME ATTRACTION PRICES AND HOURS

Since our cruise is not getting into Key West until 3 in the afternoon I was concerned that some of the tours I wanted to take may not be available that late in the day – or I wouldn’t be able to fit everything in. Using a list of tours that I obtained from another source (ITT Ticket Center) I put together a sheet on some of the tours. If you are military and have access to the MWR on the Naval base then you can purchase the tickets for 20% off by going to the ITT ticket office located at the Beach Patio Recreation Center in Key West- [url="http://www02.clf.navy.mil/keywest/MWR%20Beach%20Patio%20Rec%20Center.htm"]http://www02.clf.navy.mil/keywest/MWR%20Beach%20Patio%20Rec%20Center.htm[/url]

Please double-check the prices/hours - in case I had fat fingers or the prices and hours have changed. I would hate for someone to get there and not have the correct information. And of course all prices and hours are subject to change.

Attraction Location: The Key West Aquarium is located at #1 Whitehead St. at Mallory Square.

Operating Hours: The museum is open daily from 9:30am-5:00pm.
Notes: The Audubon House & Tropical Gardens offers a relaxing and educational environment for families and groups of all ages. This 19th century home was built by Capt. John H. Geiger, a harbor pilot and master wrecker. It was an era when shipwrecks frequently occurred on the off-shore reef. It was a time of yellow fever, slave ships and Indian wars. Slated for demolition in 1958, the house was saved by the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit educational foundation. This was the first restoration project in Key West and is still considered the gem of the island's restoration movement. Antique enthusiasts who tour the house appreciate the unique quality of the furnishings, which were typically found in a prosperous Key West home in the 1800's.

Notes: Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote here for more than ten years. Calling Key West home, he found solace and great physical challenge in the turquoise waters that surround this tiny island.

Thanks - but I did find out something I want to ***.

After speaking with some friends who went recently - it appears that the ship itinerary may be 3 CT when in docks - not 3 ET - so that would make it 4 ET - so some of the tours will already be closed (or about to) by the time we stop. So plan accordingly.

It has also brought to mind that we should get our visits out of the way before the cruise ships dock, and there will be a ship a day while we are there. Keywest.com has a schedule of ships, so we'll have to match them up...

Don't forget to allow time for the ship to clear customs. That takes anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on passenger responsiveness to provide immigration information.
