Forts In San Juan

As far as the forts in San Juan....we don't arrive in port until 3 pm. Do they stay open later? I was thinking of taking my kids to those first and then doing the evening walking tour w/ Debbie from Legends. When you go to the forts are there interpreters;i.e. people there to tell the history or....? Any info would be appreciated.

When we were there last October, the forts closed at 5:00pm.

According to the Park Service website, El Morro is is open until 6 p.m. December - May and 5 p.m. June - November. There is a link on their site that say "For Kids. http://www.nps.gov/saju/

 

It's very easy to navigate through with the pamphlet you get when you enter the fort.

You can walk to the forts, which I'd highly recommend. If not, take a taxi. Very worthwhile. Here is a detailed review.
