may1021 Posted February 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2014 Looking to go on Breakaway for 12 day cruise. We usually book a balcony but were thinking mini suite on this one. Haven't been on NCL in awhile but do remember different room types get different services. Anyone help out with what services a mini suite with balcony gets? Also some say suite and some say mini suite...anyone know the difference? Thanks.

On the Breakaway the mini-suite will give you a bit more room, mostly in the bathroom where you'll find a much larger shower and sink area. There is a bit more room in the rest of the cabin as well. Cruise Critic member Bear 3412 put together a great spreasheet on all the cabins here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1843049 Make sure you click on the "Visual Aid Links." One of the slides shows a side-by-side comparison of a balcony and mini-suite. As for perks, unfortunately mini-suite's are the same as a balcony, not a suite. Mini suites (with cabin designators beginning with the letter M -M1,MB, etc) get no extra services than balcony cabins do. To be eligible for "suite perks", the cabin designator has to begin with the letter "S" (S1, SA, S7, etc). A mini suite on the Breakaway will provide you with a bit of extra room, a nicer bathroom (I think), and some have bathtubs. Hope this helps! LegallyBlonder Posted February 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2014 If it is just 2 people sailing, I would say it's definitely not worth the mini-suite since it comes with no additional perks, as stated above. The only reason to book a mini with more space, in my opinion, is if there are 3 or more in the room. We found our Breakaway balcony to be more than adequate space for two. That said, I am largely a suite cruiser recently, and think that full-suite perks are worth every penny, if that is an option.
