Hawaiian Mongoose Posted March 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2014 Hello All. We will be in Dublin in September on the Ruby Princess. We want to take a tour that positively includes a stop in Avoca where Ballykissangel was filmed. I have done extensive research here on CC as well through Google with limited success. Does anyone have personal experience with a tour company from Dublin that included a tour to Avoca village? Thanks in advance. :)

I had someone recommend I use for tours out of Dublin. I have used it when I was in Rome. It is a Travelocity for tours. Have fun!

Mairnealach Posted March 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2014 http://www.viator.com/tours/Dublin/...Avoca...Trip...Dublin/d503-3703MOUNT http://www.railtoursireland.com/train-tour/The-Wicklow-Mountaineer.../dc08/ I found these two tours on Google, but I have no knowledge of either. What time does your ship berth in and depart Dublin? A trip to Avoca will leave little, if any, time for doing anything else. I attended a family wedding in Avoca some years ago, when Ballykissangel was on television and at its height of popularity, and the village was full of touring coaches. But these were British coaches on a week's tour of Ireland, not day tours from Dublin. Dermot

In September, we arrive at 7:00 AM and depart at 6:00 PM. It will be tight if I find a tour but should be doable. Is a trip to Avoca worthwhile in your view? Patric Hi Patric, Avoca is a rather nondescript village and is not in itself particularly worth visiting. County Wicklow, where Avoca is situated, has some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland however. The Wild Wicklow tour is well-reviewed, but its arrival time back in Dublin is too tight for a 6 pm departure. http://www.wildwicklow.ie/ To sample the Wicklow countryside, you could try the Dublin Bus 'South Coast & Gardens' tour. https://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/
