tutumomma Posted March 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Hello - this is our first time in Honduras and we are taking the Dolphin Encounter at Anthony's Key. We dock at 10:30 and the excursion doesn't start until 2:00. Is it worth the $52.00 to go to the Pirate Beach Excursion? Thanks!:)
jdbmga Posted March 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't try to do two excursions in one day. The length of time never seems right. For example my DH just went on the dolphin dive and it says it's 2 hours and he was gone almost 4. There is a nice beach area right in port that you could hang out at until your 2:00 excursion Edited March 10, 2014 by jdbmga
tutumomma Posted March 10, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Thanks Debbie! I wasn't sure if there was anything to do close to port.

Thanks!:) I have been on 56 cruises and that dolphin encounter is one of my alltime favorite excusions. Have done it several times and will do it anytime I am on Rotan, you have alot of time with the dolphins in small groups, I thought we paid about double that price booking it with cruise line. ( much better than the other Dolphin encounters we have tried)

Royal docks at Coxen Hole. (Might use google maps to get a look at it.) The Coxen Hole pier does have some pretty decent shopping if that's your thing however. Just my .02, but if you're going to be at Roatan, that same cruise stops at Cozumel too. Move your dolphin encounter to Chankanaab Park at Cozumel and hire Victor Bodden's folks for your day in Roatan. They have some fun (not challenging) ziplines, monkeys that will climb all over you, and you can get some time over at West Bay beach if you like. Like I say, just my .02, but we had a great time on Roatan and the pricing was way better than the ship.
