The Noro-dam

I got it at a Christmas party several years ago- not fun.

An RN friend said here are the rules:

If you are in the bathroom for any reason wash your hands

If you get Noro wash your hands

If you had Noro wash your hands

If you never had Noro wash your hands.

Hand washing does not kill the virus- it flushes it down the drain.

I was finally able to speak to my former-HAL Cruisetour-bus-driver son about this. The policy then (2009-2010) was the passenger was left at the next hotel for 72-hours from the time the illness was reported. Oh my goodness! When the 72 hours was up, the passenger would be put on the next bus to 'catch up' with their tour.

You'd know how crazy that is if you've ever had to stay Tok, Alaska!

The moral is: don't get Noro (or "The Walk" as the drivers called it because they are usually "Norwalk-like" viruses) on a Cruisetour!

Oh, and this. The Media is finally reporting incidents of Noro at places other than cruise ships!

Interesting stuff' date=' but even this can be speculation, unless everyone who has had Noro also had bloodwork done, which certainly is not done in outbreaks in care homes or other facilities, and surely not on ships.[/quote']

Correct. It , in the end, speculation.

But this comment also applies to every disease on planet earth.

No disease or illness in existence has had complete investigation of every (or even most) people who have been afflicted.
