Excursions On Our Own & How to Get There

We are getting ready to book excursions and would like to take the suggestion of many and book on our own. When you book thru the ship, they get you to the excursion and back. How do you get to the excursions you book on your own. Here are some we're looking at (let me know if we're missing something GREAT):

SKAGWAY:

Musher's Camp & Sled Dog Experience

White Pass Scenic Railway

JUNEAU:

Alaska's Whales & Mendenhall Glacier Trail Dog Sled Summer Camp

Bike & Brew Glacier View

Harv & Marv.

KETCHIKAN

Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour Wilderness Exploration Cruise & Crab Feast

Wilderness Cruise & Silverking Lodge Seafood Feast

.

Thanks for your help!

Most private vendors have arrangements to pick you up at the ship. For instance, Harv and Marv do. Read the descriptions on the vendor's website which will provide you with the pick-up/drop-off info you need. For the Bering Sea Fisherman's tour in Ketchikan, the boat is docked right near the furtherest dock that the cruise ships use, a very easy walk on a paved/boardwalk path, even from downtown. The railroad excursion in Skagway is the same - very walkable from the cruiseship docks. Unless someone in your party has mobility issues, you could easily walk to these two excursions.

for cruise booked passengers they pick you up alongside the ship...if you book on your own..you have to walk a few hundred feet into town...we did this and it was fine...but afterwards thought it might be better to take the bus..more comfortable and easier to take pictures of the train
