Travel Insurance - age criteria

We have travel cover to 65 through a bank account - and are nearing that age milestone soon.

 

Question - at what point does cover stop ?

 

On the day of your 65th birthday - or, does it cover the following year from that date and end when you reach 66 ?

 

Does it vary from company to company, or is there an industry standard ?

Halifax bank is 70 years old and it covers you up to before you are 71 years old. After that there is a surcharge on application.

Can't give you any info as to when 65 kicks in if you know what I mean. We opened a cooperative Bank current account purely because of the insurance. My husband had a heart attack aged 64 and the cost of insurance rocketed. I subscribed to Which Magazine and they suggested I contact Coop. The account costs £9 per month and covers us world wide. At first we had to pay a surcharge £35 comes to mind. As time has passed I ring the medical update number and declare the heart attack but now there is no surcharge. We are covered to age 80 if I remember correctly. Worth a look, the actual insurance provider is Axa.

LLoyds bank cover you until 80. DH is lucky, he got in when it was free if you kept so much money in the bank. Now there is a monthly fee, I think it's about £12 :( It is also run through AXA.

That's the issue.

 

Is it the 65th birthday - or does cover extend to include the 364 days thereafter ?

 

Time to call the insurance company methinks.

Boots TI 65th birthday kicked in when the policy was renewed after that date so changed as it went up considerably both for age and medication for diabetes.:eek::)

A quick 'phone call to First Assist this morning - cover is 65 inclusive.

 

So it extends until (and including) the eve of the 66th birthday.

 

I assume that's standard throughout the travel insurance industry ?
