Spirit ,Arctic Affair -Essence Norway excursion

Recommended Posts

Booked on the cruise and now deciding on excursions. The all day one departing Hellesylt sounds interesting. Has anyone done it? What did you think. I would like to go to the top of Mount Dalsnibba. The info on Thomsons paperwork says we'll get to see M. D. Not sur what that means.

Can't decide whether to stay on ship to Geiranger and do the Dalsnibba half day one.

Thanks

There is a local bus tour at Geiranger which will take you to Dalsnibba - it's a 2 hour trip and is approx £25 no doubt a lot cheaper than a ship's excursion although you would have to check you are getting like for like. It looks as though you can book ahead. If you are thinking about it, I'd check how many other ships are in port and what times as it will give you an idea of how many are in port and now congested it may be (and demand for local bus tours). Here's the link:

If you can hang on until you get on board, they do a "Port Showcase" on the first full day with information on all the ships tours and you can ask the Destination Services staff any questions.

We did a full day trip from Hellesylt when we did the North Cape cruise a few years ago and thouroughly enjoyed it. Can't remember what it was called but do remember being taken to an skiing area with deep snow (this was in June with coastal temperatures of 30 degrees c) so could have been Mt. Dalsnibba. Included a good lunch as well.
