honeycutt264 Posted March 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2014 My family is doing a power catamaran excursion for a half day. What do you tip on something like this? We are paying for the trip and gas-about $575 for a family of five. Any advice would be great!
blue_water Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Same % that you would tip for any service based on your satisfaction. So for us 20% would be appropriate for a great day. Many crew members rely on tips for a living too. Edited March 16, 2014 by blue_water
honeycutt264 Posted March 16, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Thanks. Would you tip on the amount they charge for all guests or with the gas price added in? Haven't done this before. Thanks.
blue_water Posted March 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) I think just tipping on the price less gas would be acceptable. $15 - 20 pp would be generous (as long as you are highly pleased with the service of course). Someone else may feel that's too generous and another not generous enough. But I think that's a good average.
