Lara Cruising Posted March 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2014 We will be on the Noordam within 2 weeks and would appreciate if someone can confirm what type of safe they have in the balcony cabins? We were on the Volendam last and they had the type where you needed to swipe a card with a magnetic strip. Does the Noordam have the same or PIN operated ones? Thanks in advance. Lara Cruising Posted March 22, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 22, 2014 It's been 18 months since we were on the Volendam but we needed a card for that safe. Maybe they have swapped them all out now. Thanks for that - no need to take an old card with us this time.
QueenGlassHalfFull Posted March 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2014 The Zaandam, which just had a drydock last fall, had the card swipe safes on our cruise this past January. I much prefer the 4 digit code safes. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

jpver Posted March 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Hey just back from the ms Noordam since yesterday. The safe is an easy to use without magnetic card. Follow the instruction to programm your 4 digit code. Then your digit 0000 code has to be used for opening and closing the the safe. The safe is reasonable in size. Outside small valuable items I could easily fit my small laptop (approx 27 cm by 18cm) inside.
