mikeerdas Posted March 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) My sister-in-law is getting married. She and her husband-to-be will be sailing on the Carnival Breeze--first time cruise for him. Since they're on a budget, I suspect they won't purchase a Cloud 9 general spa pass. But that's one of the most amazing features of this ship--presuming it's roughly equivalent to the Cloud 9 on the Carnival Dream. My family is wondering: can we secretly, or not so secretly, gift various things to their cabin? So they won't know until the embark? We have their cabin number. I've heard some cruise lines have something like a wedding gift registry for sailings. If so, how do we go about it? Would really prefer for it to be a surprise. If Carnival has no formal program for this sort of thing, who could we contact to try to do it anyway? Email preferred for a 1st contact; phone a secondary preference. loxley Posted March 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Yeah, you can do it by calling the bonvonage dept, but don't. If you keep it a secret it is a possibility they will not receive it or possibly toss out the paper telling them about it and would not know to check up on it. They need to know exactly what they should expect to find. Maybe you could give them a card and intruct them to opem it after boarding.

My niece gave me an OBC for my birthday. I didn't know about it until Carnival delivered notice of it to my cabin on my birthday. I found the notice of it on my bed on the appropriate day. It was a nice surprise. http://www.carnival.com/Funshops
vamartha Posted March 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2014 While you can gift lots of things, a spa pass isn't one of them. I wish it was, I would have already bought one for myself several times! But you can gift the cash for them to purchase a spa pass, along with flowers, alcohol, soda, water, cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, decorations and more. You can find all of that at this link: http://www.carnival.com/FunShops On our cruise last fall, the Cruise Cash and the Cruise Bar printouts were brought to us on embarkation day by our steward. The funds are already on the appropriate sail and sign card. I ordered a cake and it was delivered to dinner in the MDR one evening. Just a side note though, they are not refundable but the system is set up so that you can cash out your credits via the casino - there are very direct instructions on how to do so here on CC - and it DOES work! And Spa passes sell out fast, so be sure they know to go to the Spa first thing upon embarkation to take care of it!
mikeerdas Posted March 23, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Thanks Martha and to all. Good point about advising them to get a Spa Pass soon after embarkation. One of the things that makes the Cloud 9 spa so terrific is that they explicitly do not oversell spa passes. Rare in this day of maximizing profit. On the other hand, who knows--maybe they've got an Analytics Guru who's calculated what peoples' Pain Points are re: spa and capacity / crowding. Hope it stays this way forever, e.g. limiting the purchase of spa passes so it never feels crowded or hectic. While you can gift lots of things, a spa pass isn't one of them. mississauga Posted March 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2014 I agree that it is a good idea to buy them cruise cash but to also give them a card ( not to be opened until after embarkation ), advising them of what to expect in case it's not delivered to them or on their sail and sign folio. We have received a gift of cash from friends and received a note with the amount and who gifted it to us and saw it also on our folio.:)
MrSnarkyPants Posted March 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2014 We had set up a registry for our honeymoon. Even though the gifts were labeled "spa" or "wine" or whatever, it was all just OBC for us to use. The upsell fairy called us a week before we sailed and we took the bump from cove balcony to a spa balcony and it was the best thing ever. We may end up booking inside on our next cruise, but it's going to be a spa cabin. We spent more time there and in Serenity than any other place on the ship. Do I need their exact cabin number or just first and last names to do this?
