Camp Carnival Dream Review

Just off the Carnival Dream and I thought I would share what I saw regarding Camp Carnival. I know several people seem to ask about if it is good, will my kids have fun, etc.

I have 2 girls a 4 year old and a 11 year old. The 11 year old was very excited about the idea of camp to help her meet new friends.

For the 4 year old, she loved it :) always wanting to go back etc. The first day after nap when we were getting ready for dinner she informed me that she wanted to eat at camp with her new friends. I was game since we have a party of 10 and the dining room can take so long. After that she ate at the camp every night without any complaints. During the cruise she attended one of the parties until midnight, she would have done both but after Roatan she slept for 13 hours :). I did use the night owls one night until 2am since DD was at the all night program until 3am and so that night I did go to the night club, casino, etc. They had magic shows, face painting, crafts. The staff new her name and was super friendly! The phone was good since it let the other 8 people in the party get a hold of me (group planner). I never encountered anyone being rude, picky, etc. I did leave her on the boat in Belize for a few hours as we walked around the port, was supposed to go snorkeling but jelly fish canceled us.

For the 11 year old she was let down after the first afternoon since it was all boys and they are in the chambers conference room in the AM on Sea Days. I did talk her into going that night to test it again and she was much happier in the evening since more girls showed up then and she was able to make some friends to hang out with. She did go to all the night owl events, I don't see how she stayed up to 3am :) and really enjoyed the parties. They did check to see if she could move up to the Circle C the first day but since she was 11 and 4 months she was not close enough to 12 to move. The boys looked to be having fun when they did the chambers but on both sea days she waited until they moved back upstairs to sign herself in and do activities.

Overall I felt they had a great experience. I did mention to the director that I wish they had a separate fun area for the 9-11 year old group since being stuck in that conference room was kinda boring. DD loved the scavenger hunt she participated in, one reason why she decided to not go onshore with us in Belize was so she could do it. Fun Force dancers are just awesome and the kids had fun learning some dance moves from them. I did let DD sign herself in and out but the rule was she could only go on decks 10-12 for camp, food, and pool and that was it unless I told her otherwise. I thought the game room was out of the way and secluded for her to just go there whenever she wanted (and my pocket book agreed).

If anyone has any questions please ask and I will try to get back. I have the schedule for both too and will try to get them scanned and uploaded.

Yay thank you so much for this review! We board the Dream next Saturday and will have 2 girls in the 2-5 group. Good to hear they should have a great time again in camp! It's about all they talk about for the cruise!

If you can post the camp schedule that would be much appreciated! I have an old one but it would be great to see a recent one!

I'm thinking about letting my girls do the first late night party since they shouldn't be too exhausted yet :)

I don't understand why they make them go to a boring conference room with those great looking facilities online. That's disappointing. I never liked that I have to try and figure out where to take my kids ( 2 different age groups). On ncl they all go to one place and then separate.

I asked about that, the reason she gave was because they have so many kids on the sea days in the morning that they break them out to have more room for challenge activities and to help with the flow of kids into the camp in the morning.

Of the 7 days they were only in the conference room in the AM 2 days. The rest of the time they were upstairs in the same area. I hope I can get those activities scanned and uploaded tonight. Will help show how much is in the conference room vs the Camp Carnival room.

I too feel that they could at least use circle C then in the morning on those 2 days to give them more options and make it feel more fun :)

Thank you so much for posting this! We are going on the Dream in a few weeks. It's our 4 year old daughter's first cruise. We have been hoping she has fun at Camp Carnival. I've been pretty optimistic and have already been pricing out the next cruise!
