LAX2FCO Posted March 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2014 We just returned from a 3 night cruise to Ensenada for a big family birthday event (25 people) on the Imagination. Three weeks ago, we did the same trip on the Inspiration for another family event. The Inspiration is a bit nicer than the Imagination, (and had been renovated one year later) but both ships, the workhorses of the Carnival party cruises that sail out of Los Angeles (Long Beach) are in need of serious updates and renovation. Both trips our groups stayed in the Verandah Suites. We have another 50 yr birthday coming up this year, and while the cruise ship experience is a great way to celebrate, I don't think I want to spend another 3 nights on one of these ships. Is there any reliable source where I could find out dry dock information and scheduling? Not just for Carnival, but also Princess?
seannyice81 Posted March 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) There was a dry-dock schedule available if you google "carnival dry dock schedule." However, it is no longer that accurate as a few of the ships have been rescheduled. One person has posted their own with what they think are going to be the dates and what each ship will get with better accuracy. Both Imagination and Inspiration have recently had dry docks within the last year. Inspiration was done in San Francisco 3 months ago if I remember right. riclop Posted March 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2014 Those 2 ships need to be put out to pasture.
mississauga Posted March 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 24, 2014 The Imagination did have a dry dock in September 2013. We were on her in January 2014 for a 16 days Panama Canal transit and thought it was in pretty good condition. It is a pretty ship. We usually cruise on the newer and bigger ships and were kind of leery of going on an older ship but thought they did a pretty good job during dry dock. Service in all areas were superb and the atmosphere on the ship was very friendly and upbeat.:) What is it that you do not like about the Imagination? itsme_jj Posted August 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Most cruise lines will publish their known dry dock schedules with a press or news release. No plans for drydock anytime soon for either the Imagination or Inspiration. Why not try the 7 day on the Carnival Miracle? If you sailed these ships alot and want to try something different out of LAX area, in the spring and fall Princess does a 4 day cruises starting at $299+ taxes, etc. You may want to think about those?
