Handicapped parking cruise terminal, NYC

Sailing this May on the Gem. Due to an injury DH has limited mobility. We have a handicapped parking permit. Does the parking lot at the cruise terminal have handicapped parking and is truly convenient to the terminal or are we better of parking in the first available spot in the lot and making the best of it. Any advice is appreciated.

Handicapped parking is the most convenient parking, It's near the elevators you need to take to go inside the terminal. However, they may be already taken by passengers on the previous sailing, or others on your sailing. If so, just look for the first available spot.

We aim to arrive at the parking lot at 10:30 A.M. That works for us. Roll the luggage into the elevator, and give it to a porter when you get off the elevator.

Have fun!

There is a VERY VERY easy drop off that you almost HAVE TO go past to park at the pier. In fact when we went in 2011, everyone was off loading luggage right there and it was right by the elevator. I THINK it was rigth before they did a quick security scan on yoru vehile (if they still do that). Bottom line is park is extremely easy at the pier.

Parking at the pier is on the top level of the pier. Embarkation and Disembarkation are the levels below, with large cargo elevators to take you, TONS of luggage, and pretty much any conceivable mobility equipment up and down. The handicapped spots are close to the elevators. I've parked up there 3 times and have never seen all of them occupied, though with all the snow this year it came close.

You can also choose to pull over right after you enter the parking area on top of the pier and drop folks off. That area can get busy so you might choose to park anyway if a spot is not far.
