Sailing over Thanksgiving

After reading all the 'children' issues on here, we're wondering if our sailing over Thanksgiving is likely to be ruined by them. Coming from Europe we have no idea how long the school vacation is around this time, or is it just more of a one day thing, like a bank holiday in the UK.

Also, are there any other gay couples who have cruised on Seadream ? How were they received by the other guests and crew ? We've sailed on both Silversea and Seabourne previously and have had no problems, as they obviously attract more educated customers.

Hi Koalabear6314:

In the U.S. (or at least in the Western and Southeastern parts of the country where we've lived) -Thanksgiving is not a week or longer holiday. Usually just Thursday only or Thursday and Friday. Hopefully, you won't be bombarded with children -- only Christmas, New Year's and Easter cruises have triggered the postings on the SeaDream boards. But if your TA pushes - the TA should be able to get info on children on board your cruise -- I finally got it on the TransAtlantic cruise I'm considering.

On your second question -- my personal experience is that you will have the best vacation of your life (assuming you aren't overwhelmed with children). No problems whatsoever -- from either the crew or the passengers. On the most recent cruise, the adult passenger groups were very mixed -- from race, gender, age (talking about the adults now), sexual orientation, nationality, etc. The crew is extremely warm and welcoming -- handling even the biggest jerks (we had a woman who threw a drink on her husband in the casino and the liquid landed on other passengers instead. . . her husband was almost banned from casino due to rudeness . . .) with supreme taste and civility.

Now any couple showing extreme public displays of affection or displaying tattoos in very private areas at the dinner table might get some harsh glances, but that was about the most repressive treatment we witnessed.

Have fun!!!

I think you will find SD passengers some of the most well informed, tolerant folks to cruise with...the gay couples we have met on the ship seemed very comfortable with the experience...having had several teens and small children on our trip in June they did not inhibit our vacation one bit
