RCCL: Question about communicating on the ship

We will be cruising on the Liberty of the Seas with our 4yo daughter and 21month old son. My parents are coming with us and have offered to help with the kids so my husband and I can relax a bit. We got adjoining rooms, but my mom brought up a great question tonight. If they are watching the kids in the room and my husband and I are out, how can they communicate with us if they need us for any reason? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You could always call to their cabin on the phone to "check in"...You can tell them where you'll be, and should an emergency occur, one of them can run to where you are and get you.

No need to overthink this....the ship isn't THAT big!!!

Does anyone know if texting (verizon) works on-board?

It worked with AT&T (not sure about Verizon), BUT it's at international roaming rates. If you have smart phones you want to be especially careful if you leave them on--make sure to turn off data roaming or you'll get hit with charges every time it checks.

If Freedom has a nursery & you register your son (even if you only use for a couple of hours or end up not using) they will give you a phone to use on board throughout the sailing. It is so they can reach you if he is in the nursery. We used the phone throughout the sailing to communicate (used the nursery one evening).

Thank you, we'll try that. Was it a two way phone? Well I guess if my parents were in the room, they could always use the cabin phone. Thanks!
