Anyone ever go on the Discover Scuba for beginners tour offered in the Bahamas? Did you like it? Would you recommend? Also if they excursion is booked through NCL and they are late getting you back to the boat will the cruise line wait for you?

You'll want to check out the Ports of Call board for Nassau. Here is the link for you, have fun.

This is an NCL question about an NCL excursion. This is not a port specific question. You answer was of no help to the OP. Have you ever gone to the PoC boards....they are ghost towns....

I asked similar questions about the Certified dive offered by NCL in Nassau and got the same non-answers. Seems there are not many scuba divers on CC. From what I was able to track down about the Certified dives they use a well know local dive shop. They seem to have ok gear.

That said....Diving is a complex activity. If done properly and with proper training it can be very safe. You get this training and the tools needed to respond to various circumstances through the certification classes.

Beginning scuba can be a good intro to see if you like it in general, but you will not get all the training you need before starting. Thinks like how to clear a flooded mask under water, and the science behind descending and ascending from depth.

They should minimize the danger through the use of shallow diving, but for a few hundred dollars, one full weekend of classroom and pool diving, and then two training dives at home will get you certified and better prepare you to enjoy the magic and wonder of scuba diving. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful things you can ever do.

Either way you will LOVE diving. Just make sure you pay attention to the Dive Master and you will be fine. Enjoy your vacation and enjoy your diving.
