Train to Southampton QM2

We will be arriving in Southampton by train to join QM2 for an August crossing. Is the station close by to the cruise terminal for us to walk or should we take a taxi. Thank you.

I have always taken a taxi; I think it is too far to walk.

Depending what terminal the QM2 will be using, I believe the taxi from the train station is either 8 or 10 pounds. Ocean terminal is a bit farther "out" accounting for the higher fare...

 

We have met other QM2 passengers on the train and shared a taxi, halving those amounts.

 

it is much too far to walk.

 

The trains run at frequent internals from London. Easy transportation.

The last few times I have taken a taxi which was around £10. No way you could walk it with bags.

QM2 is presently shown as departing from The Ocean Terminal, Berth 46/47 Dockgate 4 Eastern Docks Southampton SO14 3QN in August

You will need a cab from outside the Railway Station exit from Platform 4

Alternatively the U1C bus runs from Outside the Station platform 4 exit, to Dockgate 4 entrance.
