brianlojeck Posted April 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2014 We're planning what nights to make which reservations, and we'll need to avoid the specialty places on those nights due to a strict no-ties-on-vacation policy... Also, is there a dress code for the private balcony dining if we schedule that for one of the formal nights?
TM Posted April 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2014 No need to worry about a formal dress code for the specialty restaurants on formal nights. They are always smart casual every night. You may see some folks that are dressed up but many folks go to the specialty restaurants on formal nights just because they don't want to dress up. As far as the balcony dinner it is your balcony so you can wear whatever you want. I believe they do a picture of the event for you so that may or may not influence what you want to wear. Cruisin' Chick Posted April 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2014 BTW, reservations start being taken for the specialty restaurants while on ship. Unless you're asking for a popular night (such as Valentine's Day or some other day that many have a family occasion to celebrate that coincidentally fall on the same day), you probably don't have to worry about booking immediately. We've seen the head waiter going around offering to book the restaurants on our last few cruises, and when the head waiter told us we were gifted with a complimentary Sabatini's dinner, he gave us a choice of a times for the next night. Many passengers who want to skip getting dressed up on formal nights do often eat in the buffet.
brianlojeck Posted April 22, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted April 22, 2014 We usually do the grill or room service, but knowing we can hide in the crown grill... That policy may change.
Cruisin' Chick Posted April 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2014 The Patter for the first day will list when the formal nights will be. So you'll have that info as soon as you get to your cabin.
