stupid question - how to read the deck plan

When you look at the deck plans posted on the RCI website, is the top of the page the front of the ship or the back of the ship?

Yes, it's shown bow (front) to stern (rear/aft). No worries! :)

Really.

 

It seems like the deck plans used to have the gross outline of the ship surrounding the deck plan so it was pretty easy to tell the pointy end. They don't seem to do that anymore.

TXJG: yes there are stupid questions, yours isn't one of them. Maybe there there are stupid answers.

 

Once on a Miami to LA cruise, on a deck down below, a lost/confused woman trying to go to the front of the ship, made the mistake of asking ME which way the ship was going. I pointed to the ceiling (as we were in the Panama Canal).

My Dad used to say "The only stupid questions are the ones that go un-asked."

 

Bow = Front (also "forward")

Stern = Back (also "aft")

Port = Left

Starboard = Right

 

So true!
