Celebrate3 Posted May 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Cruising in June on the Getway..last day is in Bahamas..hubby is curious about Atlantis, but everything I have heard says how crowded it is and how you are hearded like cattle...should we go anyway? Sounds like one of those places you want to go once just to see...
adbnva Posted May 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2014 when I got off ship there were a lot of cabs. you can hop on. I think it was $4. don't have access to all the touristy things but you can walk around all the public places.
karen of PA Posted May 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2014 I wouldn't pay for an excursion from the ship. It's so easy to get a cab there. I thought it was worth going to see the resort. We really enjoyed the aquarium but there is an admission fee which I thought was worth it. No one stopped us from wandering around the pool area and checking out the beach but we didn't try to swim at either place. The food prices are outrageous so eat on the ship before you go. Also, check out the Chihully glass sculptures in the casino. They're beautiful and unique.
Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted May 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I'm torn on this one too. I don't get it, and it's a lot of money for something I don't get. I currently have a reservation at the comfort suites, where you get water park privileges to Atlantis. It's cheaper for a family of 4 to do it this way. Everyday I go to the online reservation to cancel it, but just can't pull the trigger. Lol. It's a hotel. Granted, it may be fascinating, but when all is said and done $500 for a few hours in a water park, I can't wrap my head around. This kids couldn't care less what we do. Lol. We have annual passes at Aquatica at Sea world and go to the Disney waterparks once a year, so I'm not feeling all that impressed. JayinAZ Posted May 3, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Cruising in June on the Getway..last day is in Bahamas..hubby is curious about Atlantis, but everything I have heard says how crowded it is and how you are hearded like cattle...should we go anyway? Sounds like one of those places you want to go once just to see... My family of 3 went to Atlantis in March. We booked thru the ship. I have heard there are a limited number of walk up passes available and didn't want to risk walking up and not being admitted. There was a special and I think it was $139/pp. This was on Royal. The shuttle bus line was incredibly long, slow moving and unorganized. Then (not knowing any better) we followed our leader (after being given our admission tickets and wristbands) on the tour of the grounds. This took a long time since there were so many people. Then we waited probably 25 mins for a locker. Then we finally got to enjoyed the park. We got on each ride once, went to the beach for about 15 mins, ate lunch, ran thru "the dig" and got the last shuttle back to the ship. My advice is to make sure you have many hours available to you so you can enjoy all it has to offer without being rushed throughout the day. I thought the place was fantastic, just way too rushed to see it all in 5 hours.
