crowpro Posted May 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Are they removing the cabanas on the Insignia, Regatta and Nautica during the refurbishing?
potterhill Posted May 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Yes. We had one in South Pacific and DH couldn't be there. Made him queasy. I say the towels are my $750 souvenir! Mind you I use them all the time and they are lovely. ;-). Won't be a big loss in my opinion. The service people rhapsodize over wasn't apparent. They never appeared spontaneously and were very slow when called. And I mean v e r y slow.... Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Hunding Posted May 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2014 potterhill -- We had a completely different experience on a Panama Canal cruise from San Francisco to New York, so are sorry to see them go. Attendants were extremely attentive, and always aware when one or both of us were "up there" -- came frequently to check on us, and were there pronto when we rang. And, of course, our cabana was worth its weight in gold on the day we sailed through the canal -- many fond memories of that day.
turnip eater Posted May 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Hopefully, Oceania will remove the cabanas from the ship deck plans on their website. They are still showing on Insignia's deck plans and it has returned to the fleet after re-furbishment.

MimsandMarkie Posted May 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2014 We, too, had a cabana for a Panama Canal transit. It was worth every penny and more. The service was impeccable and it was the best $750 spent for 22 days of total luxury and pampering. Sorry to see them go!
RetiredFL Posted May 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2014 Don't you let Oceania hear you call it "miniature golf".....they are putting greens if you please...... Gee, my latest brochure, Winter 2014/2015, states on page 15 that there is a "Driving range and 18-hole miniature golf course". They do not specify which ships have them and they do have asterisks on other amenities indicating only available on Marina and Riviera. So I presume they are planned for all ships. It will be interesting to see.
