AmyinLakeland Posted May 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Just booked our cruise for next week & one of the ports is Belize. We did a cross-country drive & ruins last time. Looking to do some snorkeling this time. We have little kids with us (ranging in age from 4 to 11). They are experienced snorkelers/swimmers. We all carry our own snorkel equipment including life vests. is there somewhere that we can snorkel from the shore? Any beaches we can walk to from the port? kycouple39 Posted May 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2014 All of the snorkeling will be off the Cayes so you will need to take a boat to Caye Caulker or fly to San Pedro.
AmyinLakeland Posted May 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks- Not sure if I should start a new thread but I'll try here first- we have our own gear & don't need lunch etc.- would there be a way to get out to a reef with an independent guide/boat? Mostly looking for the best budget option as well as not everyone will allow a 4 year old.
Cruise life Posted May 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2014 I don't think you can snorkel around the port, but there is a boat trip to goff's caye and we loved it there. Goff's Caye Snorkeling and Beach Thanks for posting the link; OP, they take 4 yr olds. This may be something we will do in January. Have been wanting to try the ride out to one of the cayes, but am always worried about the seas. I prefer to book once we get there and can see how the ride will be. I really don't want to hang out in the tourism village again or even go cave tubing which I loved the first time because I was so excited to see the massive palm trees (some of the largest in the world). Sounds like a great tour. And agree, there are no beaches right there, in fact, you have to leave the secure tourist village where every door is covered by guards to get out and catch a cab anywhere.
