Cocktail reception in Pinnacle Lounge on Allure?

I feel like I’ve been posting a lot on this forum but I’m struggling with getting answers from anywhere. We are getting married on RCL Allure Feb 2015, at sea, and I still have no idea what I’m allowed to plan!

 

Has anyone else done a Group Cocktail Reception in place of a reception booked with Royal Romance?

 

We really wanted something more in the evening rather than having all the festivities over by 5pm. We have asked for a 3pm wedding, so we can have a cocktail reception from 6-8. They originally told me that there were tables and chairs, however, didn’t explain that meant small armchairs and coffee tables. We are at 55 guests booked right now, but that will go up. We are booked in Pinnacle Lounge. I think we are going to have to have our ceremony and reception in the same venue. We will just be ordering appy style food, and open bar for 2 hours. Just wanting to have a place for speeches, first dances, and start the evening off before we head to a public lounge/disco.

 

Also, there is no sound system, but just an ipod speaker? Does anyone know if this is loud enough for the space?

What kind of decorations did you have?

Was it crowded?

Were you able to bring your wedding cake in? We were told both yes and no by group coordinators.

We know that renting out a restaurant is an option, but the price is far too ridiculous for us.
