aimathy Posted May 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I'm hoping someone can help me, since I'm confused! :) We booked a cruise where our daughter is sailing "free" under a promotional package. When I'm putting in the cost per person, and I just splitting it evenly amongst the five of us? Or do I actually make hers that much lower? Thanks! dread_pirate Posted May 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2014 If your daughter sails free, she has a 0 cost to be insured (for the cruise portion). Consider only her airfare, or other non-refundable costs for her portion. List each person's actual costs. Otherwise, you will be underinsuring everyone else, and will therefore underreimbursed if you file a claim for one of the other 4.
Pluto_fan Posted May 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2014 I was just researching the same thing and found the same answer as dread pirate. A good explanation is here: http://www.tripinsurancestore.com/blog/how-to-correctly-quote-a-travel-insurance-plan/
ibcnusoon Posted May 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 27, 2014 What would be your daughter's cost if you cancelled the day before the cruise? Still $0? I only ask because our next cruise we received a FREE cabin, just had to pay taxes. After a lot of talking to various agents, it was suggested that we do not ensure it for $0, or the cost of port fees and taxes, but at the rate of Fun Select (Carnival tier pricing). Even though I paid $288 total Including taxes and port fees, we are insured for $2,500 - the cost if we were to cancel.
