shumdit1 Posted May 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Have read suggestions on the boards for the luaus in Maui and Kauii. Has anyone done both and which would you suggest.
sptrout Posted May 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2014 We have been to shows on the four highly visited islands. Maui has many, many more visitors than Kauai, which should give you an idea of what kind of evening entertainment there is in general. Kauai is great for the wonderful scenery, beaches, and a good place for peace and quite. There is Smith's Luau, which is fine, (and maybe few hotel shows) but IMO, nowhere near the level of what you will find on Maui, or Ohau for that matter. Susan-M Posted May 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2014 Agree with the Maui recommendation ... either Old Lahaina Luau or Feast at Lele ... they are the best!
Donray Posted May 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2014 The Feast at Lele is very good if you don't like the cattle drive buffet at a luau with 400 plus people. The Feast at Lele has seating at individual tables (probably limited to 100 people) and serves at the tables. They have a lot of different type of food that is served in courses with entertainment between. The drinks are included and come as fast s can drink them (not just one type) wine is also included. See menus at http://www.feastatlele.com/the-feast-and-show/hawaii/ Click on each of the island names to see the foods from those islands.
Susan-M Posted May 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) The Feast at Lele is very good if you don't like the cattle drive buffet at a luau with 400 plus people. I liked the Feast at Lele a little better than Old Lahaina luau because of the individual seating, not having to go to the buffet and having the courses spread out throughout the evening of entertainment. But the buffet at the OLL is very well organized, and it gives you the option of selecting foods that you like, or think you'll like(many of them aren't dishes that we are used to seeing/eating). They also serve drinks very quickly (at the table) at the OLL, so both are comparable there. With either, the earlier you make your reservation, the better your seating will be (closer to the stage). For OLL I would recommend table seating (instead of Traditional or 'mat' seating). Here's a FAQ sheet for each which might be of help: Feast at Lele Old Lahaina Luau Edited May 19, 2014 by Susan-M

IRATHERBEONVACATION Posted June 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks for your input on the luau in Maui. I was wondering about transportation to and from the cruise ship. Do you know if this is available? Thanks! The Feast at Lele is very good if you don't like the cattle drive buffet at a luau with 400 plus people.
