MiFi and international SIM in port

Recommended Posts

I understand that Internet on board is slow and expensive. I can manage without while at sea but I wondered about using a MiFi device with a worldwide SIM card when in port to access email on my laptop.

I'm booked on a cruise to the Baltics and there seem to be several cards that would cover all countries.

Has anyone any experience of doing this?

This should work fine, I had a Internation sim on my TA crossing but used it in my Iphone, it worked great even on the ship, its slightly slower then the ships internet, it worked great on the ship for viber phone calls, facebook, Imessge and emails, I had a plan that charged $10 a day for 100megs per day. The carrier I used allowed cellular at sea for data.
