Great place for me to watch for sales is Jos. A. Bank. I can get their Traveller dress shirts (which are incredibly wrinkle resistant) for under $20 when they are on clearance. So far, I have purchased 4 of them that way and I keep looking. I also bought a cashmere/wool sport coat for $49 (originally $395).

BTW, a Jos. A. Bank salesperson told me I should never buy anything from them at regular price. Everything in the store will go through a markdown process at some point - usually at least 40%.

They now consider themselves to be markdown driven, apparently.

Are you buying these items online or at an actual store? If online, would you mind posting the web address?

How recently did you buy the cashmere/wool sportcoat?

Thanks,

Jane

Jane,

Jos A. Bank has a number of stores in the Chicago area (where I live) and I get an advance notice mailing of their clearance sales (seems to be about 1 mailing a month). So it's easy for me to shop.

And I bought the sport jacket in March.

HEY! I live in the Chicago area too! Hahaha, but I checked the Jos A. Bank store on Washington and Wabash, but they didn't have much, only some dress shirts and they weren't the Traveller version of the dress shirts. Oh well, what other locations are there?

Lel,

Thanks, I think we have one here in NYC. BUt if you bought the jacket in MArch, they're all gone by now.

NJewers,

Thanks for the info, though I'm not a QVC shopper.

Jane, that's true. But I just got a card in yesterday's mail for store clearance. Signature suits - originally $695.00, now $208.60. Sportcoats in various price ranges now $54.60 to $138.60. Summer dress pants - originally $135-$175, now $34.98. And more. Prices not valid on the Internet. And as I mentioned, I get announcements frequently.

Here's the real caveat, especially in the Chicago area. Gentlemen: I get first shot at Suits and sportcoats in 42 regular and shirts in 15 1/2-33 and pants 34/32. That's my price for steering you to one of my favorite stores.

Also, as I was travelling down from Wisconsin State Fair today, I *had* to stop at Gurnee Mills on the way home. I picked up a Regular Priced $79.00 Trafalgar Leather Black/Brown Reverisble Belt for $9.00 on CLEARANCE at Off 5th, The Saks Fifth Avenue outlet store. There, I also picked up regular priced $125.00 Polo Ralph Lauren Black Leather Belt for $13.00 as well as 2 pairs of Calvin Klein boxer shorts regularly priced at $16 (and I've seen people buy them for full price) for only $2.78! Cheaper than Kohl's Boxer Shorts on clearance!!!

I should also mention that Bloomingdale's has some regular-priced dress shirts at 50% off. If your Bloomingdale's has one, there is also a whole tub of discounted socks. Regular $13.00 Cole Haan dress socks are now about $2 then an extra 40% off!!!

Enjoy,

Chris
