New to CC -Lots of OBC and Casino Cash

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I have been reading these boards for a while but have never posted. My husband, son and I are leaving June 14th on the Carnival Freedom. This will be our third Carnival cruise. We are up to $990 in OBC. Also called the Carnival Players Club and was informed our comps were $200 redeemable at the casino cage, a premium bon voyage gift basket in our stateroom and I was to receive the drinks on us card (for use in casino only) upon embarkation. The reason for posting is our first two cruises I never called to ask for anything. After reading these boards I did. And what did I get - a whole heck of a lot! I was not booked early saver to begin with. Every time the price dropped I called and asked. Some people told me no, every other person said yes. Did not even realize that the players club tracked your play for 24 months! Lesson learned. I will ALWAYS call from now on for our future cruises. I plan on posting a lengthy review as I haven't seen anything for the Freedom 2.0 as of yet. We are Carnival MasterCard holders, are purchasing FTTF and will purchase the Cheers program.

the biggest tip I learned from these boards was Early Saver. And to take the collapsible wire clothes hampers to keep the cabin tidy. We take three. And I love to read about the menus, read reviews, the news about Carnival is always on here. right now, I think waiting to hear that Carnival is putting back the Panana Canal schedule.....8 or 9 days would make me happy. A New Review of the New Freedom will be very welcome. the Freedom is one of my favorite ships.

I'm curious about all the casino comps. Did you play a lot on the two cruises? We got $25 last time and play just a little every day. And you asked, they didn't offer?

We play primarily blackjack every night. I probably lost about $500 on our last cruise and my husband probably won $500. I called the players club directly and asked if I had any comps available based on our play from our last cruise. The nice lady asked for our VIFP numbers and booking number, put me on hold for 10 minutes and then came back and told me our comps.

Just curious...why would you purchase Cheers if you are getting the free drink card from casino?

Because we both have to purchase Cheers anyways since we're in the same stateroom. I was the only one eligible for the free drinks card, not hubby. If we had both received the free drink card I think we would have reevaluated purchasing Cheers. We had Cheers our last cruise and it worked out great for us.

I am going on the Pride at the end of June and would like to find out about getting comps also. What phone number do you have to get in contact with them?

1- 888-672-2582 ext. 65718 is the number I called. I was on hold for probably 30 minutes before someone came on the line. They'll ask for your booking number, VIFP number and whether you play slots or tables. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 - 5:00 EST.
