Is there much to do in Torshavn or should we book an excursion?

Book a tour but allow a few hours to walk around the town.

When we were there, the weather in Torshavn was gray and rainy. We found a taxi to drive us around. After we crossed to the other side of a mountain, it was sunny and beautiful! The scenery was magnificent. Suggest you get out of the city and bring your camera!

I hope your visits don't coincide with the annual Faroe Grind.

That could be one excursion in the Faroe Islands you may want to avoid....

I can't decide whether to do the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs boat tour or a tour of the countryside. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Vestmania was very pretty though unfortunately I was there in late July when most of the birds were gone. One person got some pictures of two puffins but he had a great camera. Someone on the boat crew said many of the bird species had left about a week earlier.

Torshavn has little to offer. But the island and the views are stunning.

We were in a small group in a large bus with a nice guide. The trip was very interesting and offered a nice lunch.
