Shore excursion question?? Carnival Miracle

I’m sailing the Western Caribbean in a few weeks. Cozumel, Belize, Costa Maya and Grand Cayman I heard it is cheaper to book the shore excursions on your own vise booking thought the cruise line. How do you go about doing this? DO you book online? Or are there several companies standing at the dock when you port, ready to take you on their excursion. I’m new to this cruise thing, and am cruise to know how others did it?

Hi, welcome to the boards. You can book on-line or at the docks but it is usually better to book on line. Check out the Ports of Call board for suggestions on who to use. Go to each island a read up on it. Grand Cayman is a tender port and I used Native Way. Capt Marvin also gets good reviews for private tours.

Cozumel and Grand Caymen are very easy ports to book private excursions. Belize has limited infrastructure - if your time is relatively short in port I suggest booking through the cruiseline. We were on the Legend this past Feb and did the World Canopy Tour where you zipline - it was the highlight of our trip!

Do a google on shore excursions for each port. Then check out, www.cozumelmycozumel.com and www.cozumelinsider.com. You will have all kinds of stuff to check out. If that is not enough, check back on these boards and we will find more stuff.:D

in Costa maya we took the bus into Majuahaul for a qiuet- relaxing beach day

Unfortunately, the seas were too rough to dock in Costa Maya but we had booked on line to go to Mahjarel (Spelling is wrong) and we easily refunded our deposit.

 

As for Belize, I agree it is best to book through the cruise line. We did a snorkel/island excursion to the reef and then a small island interlude. Boat left from the ship directly as getting into Belize is by tender.

 

Cozumel we love Mr. Sanchez's beach but I understand weather has affected a lot of Cozumel.

 

In Grand Caymen, we booked Capt. Marvin on line. It was as good as everyone says.
