KarateMan Posted June 12, 2014 #76 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Enabling seems a bit harsh. What are the alternatives? If all the solo cruisers stopped sailing Princess and paying the supplement wouldn't they just fill the cabins with doubles? In fact they probably would prefer that because there would be more on board revenue. Personally I like to sail solo about half the time and when I do I budget accordingly - it's the way Princess does business. I think cruise lines earn more on board revenue from singles. They pay for shore excursions more than couples who would do their own thing. Would also need to see how much singles spend on their bar bill to be certain. shopperwhite Posted June 12, 2014 #78 Share Posted June 12, 2014 As with all cruises if there is a lot of availability you can usually get a better deal. I really hate to book early and then find my price a lot lower closer to the cruise. If itis after final poking. Approx 90 days they will not give you the cheaper Price nor upgrade you so now I never ever book until at least 60 days before or even later. I've always done better booking early and getting a discount. Even if prices drop, I still usually do better. And if I'm eligible for a re-fare, I get it. Recently got re-fared down almost $1,000 on my Royal TA and got an extra $100 OBC. Maybe it's the cruises I book but I've found that after the launch price, fares tend to go up and then if they are reduced, I'm still paying less. pablo222 Posted June 12, 2014 #81 Share Posted June 12, 2014 (edited)
It absolutely does, I totally agree with you. When I'm going "solo" I ALWAYS ask for the beds to be set-up as twins. There is definitely more walking around room especially in the inside cabins.
I like the twin setup as well. And, put 'the other' bed against the wall, so the bed I'm sleeping in has a night stand on each side. This way I don't bump my elbows into the wall.
