Bizziecruzer Posted June 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Hi - we are considering taking the train following a cruise in June next year. Just wondering if we do this train trip - will it still be daylight for when we hit the scenic part of the trip (i.e. coastal area)? thanks in advance for any advice. Putterdude Posted June 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2014 It would appear that you will be in Vancouver on June 12, 2015 so right now it is about 9:45 pm and it is twilight. So yes, you should see a fair amount and perhaps even a sunset....be sure and sit on the right side of the train. Here is a link for you reference. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=
LeftcoastBC Posted June 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2014 the Dude is bang on here...and even looks like he got his math right on the train trip date. :) If you stayed a few days in Vancouver you would get more light closer to the 21 of JUne. Bizziecruzer Posted June 11, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Thanks for your responses. I thought it would be daylight, but I needed some clarification.
Mr_Astro Posted June 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2014 You will be getting great views of Puget Sound almost from the moment you leave King St. Station but I would sit on the left side of the train, rather than the right. Book business class and you'll be given priority access to the customs and immigration folk. You do, however, arrive around 11:30 pm. Sunset is at 9:19 and civil twilight ends at 10:02. You'll still have some glow after that but the internal reflections in the train car will soon overpower the outside light and you won't see much. OP is going from Vancouver to Seattle, not Sea to Van...
