sarar Posted June 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2014 I have never been on the Arcadia and just wondered does anyone know if the balcony cabins have sofa beds in for the 3rd person rather then pullman beds?
Gilpet Posted June 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2014 We had a sofa bed in our balcony cabin in November 2012 so they definitely do - I'm afraid I can't remember our cabin number but the cabins with sofa beds are marked on the deck plans. We loved this ship even though (before it had it's re-fit) it was a little tired - it's so well laid out. Gill

sarar Posted June 10, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Right I'm getting confused here, I was always told by my TA that P&O ships don't have sofa beds in their cabins, but on checking deck plans for the Arcadia, Azura and Ventura it looks like some cabins do, is this correct? The reason for asking this is that I have to share with my parents, we are all 3 adults and I have mobility problems and they are unable to get up on pullman beds as well, so they have to twin beds and I have the sofa bed. rooftop Posted June 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2014 If you look on the deck plans in the brochure a single * means the cabin has a single sofa bed. ** means it is a double sofa bed.
sarar Posted June 10, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Thanks rooftop, do you know if this has always been the case that P&O has sofa beds as our Travel Agent always told us they didn't have sofa beds?
rooftop Posted June 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Well Aurora had them in 2009 so it's been at least 5 years on that ship (and I think they've been there a lot longer than that). Can't vouch for other ships but Ventura had sofa beds in some cabins in 2010. So your TA knows less than they think!
rooftop Posted June 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Having said that, I had to argue with a P&O call centre operative that Aurora had sofa beds in some cabins - she was adamant there were only pull down bunk beds. I had to refer her to the deck plans in the brochure.

tom_uk Posted June 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 11, 2014 The ordinary balcony & outside cabins on Arcadia all have a sofa in them so they must be able to use them for extra beds. On Ventura & Azura, however, the normal balcony & outside cabins don't have a sofa at all - just an armchair. So there's no room for the furniture for floor-level extra beds. I think all of these cabins must have pull-down, or lower able, bunks. However the larger balcony cabins - D & E decks - do have sofas in them, so I suspect they may have third-person floor-level arrangements.
dsrdsrdsr Posted June 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2014 At leat one Arcadia cabin - the one I was in - has both a sofa bed and a pull-down bed. I know because we had to call a steward in the middle of the night to swap one for t'other when my mother's hot water bottle had an unfortunate accident.
