Single_dreamer Posted June 12, 2014 #27 Share Posted June 12, 2014 I am following your review! I sailed the previous week and I honestly don't recall the labels at the buffet. I have a few menus, but may take some time to get those posted.

CruiserJul Posted June 12, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We got into our room a little before 1:30 and unpacked our carryons. We didn't get any good pictures of our room - the lighting wasn't good but I will post one (the cord is for DH's CPAP) Obligatory bathroom pictures: This is a better view:;) We got ready to go to our meet and greet at 2 at the aft pool but before that we toured the ship a little. I will note that there was plenty of storage space for the 4 of us. Strangely, there was nothing in our amenities basket in the bathroom. Also, the entire cruise we never met our room steward. The room was always cleaned but we had to go to guest services to have someone unlock the mini fridge. Plus it would have been nice to have some ice. CruiserJul Posted June 12, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted June 12, 2014 DH pointed out that I incorrectly posted that the hotel had a free shuttle to the Port of Miami. It did not. The free shuttle was to/from the airport. We prepaid EZ Express $100 to go to/from Port of Miami. Sorry!:o
MicheinMA Posted June 12, 2014 #31 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Loving the review. We are going on this cruise in February and can't wait! Michelle
CruiserJul Posted June 12, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Got to our meet and greet and met a lot of nice people - a few of which we would see around the ship/ports quite a bit. Then we had to go to Muster which didn't start until 4:20 and lasted about a 1/2 hour. We thought we would be sailing away right after that but we weren't! We didn't sailaway until shortly after 6. The Norwegian Getaway (which looks amazing) and the Carnival Victory both left before us:
CruiserJul Posted June 12, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) DH's Miami Vice at Sailaway Party. I got out on the Lido Deck and did some line dancing! Our CD was Dr. E and I thought he was pretty entertaining. Time for dinner! We had Your Time Dining and with the 4 of us never had to wait and always got a table to ourselves. We were in the Golden Dining Room Edited June 12, 2014 by CruiserJul

CruiserJul Posted June 13, 2014 Author #39 Share Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) We really like everything we had with the exception of the pork chop. I had brought a bottle of wine to the table but the waiter didn't even acknowledge it or mentioned anything about the corking fee - which I was prepared to pay. We waited a long time and finally just opened it ourselves (screw top). They never even suggested that they would keep the rest of it for the next day(like they have always done on past cruises) so we just took the bottle back to room. Very strange. DH and I went to the Gender Showdown and the kids went to the gym. After that DS decided to check out Club O2 during their orientation. I guess he like it because we didn't see him until after midnight. Every night he would go there after dinner and hang out with the other kids. Often they would just walk around the ship in groups and talk or eat. I don't think they did much of the organized activities. The last day he ate dinner with his friends and hung out with them the rest of the night. DD and I went to the Welcome Aboard Show with Dr. E. He's a funny guy! Then she and I went to the White Heat dance club to get our free champagne (ladies night), End of day one! We were very busy! CruiserJul Posted June 13, 2014 Author #40 Share Posted June 13, 2014 We were scheduled to be in Nassau from 7-2. DH woke me up at 6 to see us pull in. The Carnival Ecstasy was docked there overnight and scheduled to leave this morning. Oasis of the Seas docked on the other side of us: This was the only morning I ordered room service and it came early too! I just got coffee and a bagel and some yogurt and cereal for the kids. CruiserJul Posted June 13, 2014 Author #41 Share Posted June 13, 2014 Since they docked early people were getting off the ship at 7. We had booked 2 different excursions and didn't need to be off until at least 8 and it was not crowded then. DH and DS booked a catamaran snorkeling excursion and DD & I booked a Segway tour - I was really excited about this! We booked through Caribbean Segway Tours on-line and it was $75 pp. Reggie met us at the fountain across from the cruise port: Majesty of the Seas was also in port with us. The fountain wasn't running at the time so we had a hard time finding it! Reggie picked us and about 10 others up in their van and took us to their place which is next to Junkanoo beach. Which, by the way, is a very nice little public beach within walking distance of the ship. We have been there twice. We were given elbow and knee pads to wear as well as a helmut. Then we had one on one instruction for a few minutes to learn the basics after which we were allowed to practice on our own in their lot. They had little makeshift hills to practice on as well since that is the most difficult part to get the hang of. After a few minutes practicing we were off! Down past Junkanoo and along the water. We parked for a while and they took our pictures - it also looked like rain. Luckily they had rain ponchos for us! It poured down for a while but we continued on! We stopped at the Fish Fry which is a local area of restaurants/bars that sell fried fish/conch. We went into one and got drinks. I got a Bahama Mama and a lot of the guys got Kalik - a local beer. We had to get back on our Segways before we finished our drinks! But really other than needing help to get on it is fairly easy to ride one with drink in hand! Cup holders would be a nice addition though... We went over to a grassy area by one of the forts and they let us ride around Next we rode past the cricket stadium (their national sport) and to an obstacle course. We got to race each other around the cones. The tour lasted about 1 1/2 hours and was a lot of fun. Our guides were very nice people! It's something I always wanted to do and I'm glad I did. DD had a lot of fun too! We chose to walk back to the ship rather than have them take us back since we wanted to stop at some of the stores. We went in a local grocery store (Oreos were $7.99!) and bought 2 cans of pop for $1 each. We walked through the Festival Place before getting on the ship: DH and DS got back a little later than us. DH stopped at one of the liquor stores since he remembered from previous trips that you can get some good deals. He bought a 200ml of Ricardo rum for $2 and some Goombay punch. Really good mixed together!

CruiserJul Posted June 15, 2014 Author #45 Share Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) DD and I got back on the ship and ate at the buffet. We then went to the gym and after watched sailaway. DH & DS hung out in the room and balcony and I met up with DD for trivia - her favorite! The first trivia was Sea Feud. Kind of like Family Feud. I got there after it was finished and this is what she had: Next was music trivia and movie song trivia. Were weren't so great at those. DD & I went up to use the spa showers before dinner. We did this every night since 4 sharing a cabin bathroom can be crowded, and the spa showers are nice and big. Dinner menu for Nassau night: Bread Basket Crab soup - DD & DH got this and weren't impressed-not much crab. CruiserJul Posted June 15, 2014 Author #46 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Roasted broccoli Seared ahi tuna Junkanoo Pot Succatash Tilapia DH had the leg of lamb but I can't find the picture. What really surprised me was how good the succatash was! The tilapia is always good. The broccoli salad was really tasty too. We didn't stick around for dessert. It had been 1 1/2 already. We went to the Cinn A Bar (piano bar) to play trivia. Met up with some of our roll call friends and headed to Hasbro Game Show. Cinn A Bar
CruiserJul Posted June 15, 2014 Author #47 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Here's what the Taste Bar offers. I never went there but DH & DS tried it out one night. Promenade where Taste Bar is located Later DS went to the Club O2 and DD, DH & I went to the casino. I mostly played penny slots for 18 or 20 cents at a time. That night I started out with $10 and won it back!
CruiserJul Posted June 16, 2014 Author #48 Share Posted June 16, 2014 Everyone but DS was up by 8:15 and went up to the breakfast buffet. We found a couple of chairs on deck but a lot were being saved by chair hogs. They were showing Kelly & Michael on the big screen. DH left for the excursion talk with Dr. E and I stayed put and read. Next thing you know they are showing the excursion talk on the TV and I hear DH's name - he was called up and won a carnival robe! DH and DD participated in a slot pull organized by one of our roll call members. I chose to bask in the sun since we have had so little of it in Ohio up until now. DH ended up in 2nd place and got a Carnival T-shirt. He was slowly building a Carnival wardrobe..lol! We went back to the room around noon and got DS and we all went up to the Seaday Brunch. Here we were seated at a table with another couple. We used our free drink coupons at this time since we weren't planning on eating in the MDR for lunch/brunch the rest of the week. DH got Steak and Eggs I got an egg white omelet and stuffed tomato DS got the salmon DD got the chocolate pancakes I found the pic of DH's leg of lamb from the night before I went to the Champagne Art Auction for a while. I got some free champagne, looked around at the pictures but it took too long to start so I left to do laundry. There is a laundry room on almost every deck I believe. They cost $3each for washer and dryer and $1 for soap. They only take quarters. This is also where the iron is located. Today wasn't busy for the washing machines but when I went later in the week I had to wait a few minutes. Went up to the gym and worked out on the elliptical. When the ship is moving DD said it's a little tricky to run on the treadmill. Those days she would use the bike. I either used the elliptical or the bike. Here is a pic of the hot tub inside the spa which I wanted to use but never got the chance:
CruiserJul Posted June 16, 2014 Author #49 Share Posted June 16, 2014 DD did our usual going to the spa to get ready for Elegant Night. We got our formal pictures taken and went to check out the Alchemy Bar. Tonight was ladies' night: I forget the name of the martini I got but it was the strongest one with pernod absinthe (licorice flavor), a lot of other liquors and a splash of lemonade and sprite. I thought it was ok. We headed over to dinner which was really good tonight. They had the tablecloths on the tables and they bring around mimosas for everyone - unless you are underage then you get OJ and Sprite.
