StayC0216 Posted June 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Hi All, I'm looking into plantation tours to Oak Alley and Laura. Can anyone tell me if the drive there would most likely be highway/main roads or side streets with lots of swerves and turns? We will be going on a group tour not driving ourselves. Thanks for the help!
WLHyatt Posted June 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2014 The route to those plantations is mostly 4 Lane Highway and interstate. The last 5 miles or less is windy roads. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

luckygurl1227 Posted June 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2014 I wondered that too before I went since I would be the one driving my group. You can use Google Maps Streetview and it will show exactly what the route will look like.
wdowns9 Posted June 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2014 We've been to the majority of plantation homes outside NOLA - Laura and Oak Alley are nice but do not forget Destrehan Plantation. Average cost per home is $20pp so be prepared as it will add up quickly. Here is a good reference: http://www.neworleansplantationcountry.com/ as for driving the roads are easy to travel either just off the highway or a short drive on the river road. snowmouse Posted August 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We would like to see both Oak Alley and Laura , but will not have a car. Staying in the French quarter. Looking at a couple of options with tours by Isabelle and Big Easy tours. Any preferences or other ideas? Are there any discounts out there for these tours? Looks like the going rate is $100 per person, and we are a group of 5 (gulp)!
WLHyatt Posted August 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2014 That sounds about right if it includes transportation. Bring plenty of water if you are doing both in one day.
