Fort Lauderdale vs Miami

We are flying into Fort Lauderdale 1 day before our Miami cruise. Is it better to stay in FLL the night before or head to MIA. I'm not sure which is easier (and cheaper) - transferring from a FLL hotel to Port of Miami, or being at a Miami hotel the morning of the cruise. Will we be able to get transportation from our FLL hotel to the port or should we go back to the airport and transfer from there?

Which is cheaper really depends on when you're travelling and how full the hotels are. In general though this winter/spring the downtown Miami hotels seem to be a bit cheaper than Fort Lauderdale.

Another consideration whether to stay in FLL or MIA is your departure day. If its the weekend, either location is just fine. If it's a week day departure stay in Miami. Traffic during the week can be a pain. ;)

Our flight won't land until after midnight in FLL. Should we bother transferring to Miami that late or just find a hotel in Fort Lauderdale?

If you get to FLL that late then personally I'd just stay in Fort Lauderdale, get a good night's sleep and go down to the Port of Miami the next morning.
