Zace Posted August 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2005 How soon should passports be renewed before expiration?
Toto2Kansas Posted August 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2005 Since some countries insist that your passport be valid for 6 months before expiration, I would suggest anytime in that area.

Druke I Posted August 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Agree - six months or more. Renewed mine last Dec., 3 weeks turnaround time - pretty good I thought.
kevinsac Posted August 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2005 I always renew mine right AFTER the last trip during which the passport was valid. I'm always within a year of expiration when I do so......but, I also try to do it during a slow time of year. In my family, having valid travel docs is important, since I have a lot of elderly family living overseas. I travel to Europe several times a year, often just for a long weekend (if I can get very cheap rates) just to see them. Often the planned trips are the major birthdays.....and last-minute trips have been funerals during the last few years. So, I can't delay....I need one at the ready at any time. Pam in CA Posted August 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2005 The 6 months is correct. I believe it's supposed to be valid 6 months before you return, not leave.
