Pre-booking shows and dining. OBC?

I'm trying to book my shows and specialty restaurants ahead of time, but in order to do so it looks like I need to pay upfront with a credit card. I don't remember doing this before. I'd like the charges to go on my onboard account so that I can use my OBC. Is there anyway to do this?

.....you can make the reservations once on the ship. Then they will be charged to your account.

Thanks but my question was about pre-booking them. I guess based on your response that they must be paid upfront if doing so. I don't remember doing that on the last cruise. I think previously you could pre-book and then pay onboard. Oh well, looks like I'll just have to have a few extra cocktails! :D

The prior answer is correct.

We all use "OBC" so often that we sometimes forget that it means ON BOARD credit. You have to actually be on board before you can use the credit.

Those who wish to use the option of pre-booking must pre-pay. The good news is that not all of the slots are available for pre-booking so you should be able to book everything you want once onboard (assuming that you do so right away...)

Well to be fair, I would be dining ON BOARD. It's fine though. I've never had trouble using up an OBC.

Remember that depending on where your obc came from it may not be able to be used towards dsc.

Oh really? That's good info. When can it and can it not be used toward the DSC? Mine came from my TA.

You're absolutely correct. (Although that doesn't matter as you can use OBC to pay for an excursion that you would enjoy while NOT on board. :p)

To dine, you would have to be on board.

To receive your credit, you would have to be on board.

To spend the credit, you would have to be on board.

To be fair, there is a pattern here.

Nothing wrong with using on board credit, you just have to be onboard to do it.

We had the same issue and basically being a newbie to NCL we didn't know better. Most of the speciality restaurants at least for our cruise had ton of availability. So, we ended up being able to cash in our on board credit at the casino. It cost 3% but it was better than losing it all. First, cruise where we had the smallest on board bill. It seems like since you prepay tips, prepay excursions (we only booked one that was unique) and prepay speciality restaurants there wasn't much left for us to spend it on. We had a $400 on board. We thought we spend it on drinks but usually we only had one or two drinks a day. 3 of our ports returned late in the evening so we only had 4 nights of drinking available.
