Nassau or Freeport???which one safer?

We are a group of 4 ladies and we would like to do a snorkeling excursion at one.. And maybe just walking around the other..which port would be safer to just got off and walk around??

I think they are both equally safe but you can't just get off and walk around in Freeport as it's an industrial port and about a 15 minute ride to Port Lucaya (they do have some shops that have been built in the port area). Personally I would do a snorkel excursion in Freeport and walk around Nassau.
