This link to a review of a British Isles cruise last year may help. It has lots of photos to give you a good visual overview. The St Marys section starts on Page 5 from post #88. We will be there end of August and I am hoping we can use the services of the old car that is pictured for a short tour. :)

You may be able to take a boat trip to one of the 'off' islands, but that very much depends on weather and tides. Would highly recommend if you have the opportunity. Trays co is the next largest island and has beautiful tropical gardens. Otherwise just relax on St Mary's, not far to go to anywhere!!
