New to Seabourn and worried about recent bad food reviews
frantic36 replied to anonymousegirl's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
Thanks 😄. I think I'll do a special order of liver and onions for lunch one day. I had it one day with friends on Seabourn and they did a good job. -

Same here. We have never done the islands or Lisbon. -

Visiting the Canary Islands? -
You are such a nice person 🙂. I hope you and your partner get back on Seabourn soon. When we were on Seabourn On Odyssey the internet in Alaska and Japan was good in September. Our Internet on Regent in October was okay but we had a lot of things blocked and my husband had to stay on the ship in one port to do business with the bank. People on the Regent board claimed it was us but we have never experienced this even last September on Odyssey. Regent was a lovely ship and the food as good as Seabourn. The included wines a little better but the included tours did our head in. Way too many people and too many buses going to the same place since. On Seabourn we usually do our own thing. There were a couple of tours we did that was fine. For clarity it was never the tour guides it was too many people We have decided as lovely as the Regent ship and restaurants are we could only do a transatlantic as it is way too much of a waste of money. We don't get flights offered in Australia and we have confirmed we don't like bus tours.

Yes they will do hold the bottle with your suite number on. My husband is allergic to red wine but I like to have it sometimes, usually no more than a glass or two. They will use the Coravin system to extract that glass or two so there is no problem with oxidation later.

Are roll calls not popular any longer?

@klfrodo you might not use FB as a information site but others do. I have had people quote things from FB groups that were just personal opinion or rumours but I was told they were "facts". -

Interesting read. I hope CC doesn't fade away as though I have found some postings and complaints trivial at best, I do enjoy reading advice on the ports of call boards. @klfrodo I don't use FB not because I am not computer savvy because I am and so are my adult sons who also refuse to use it. We do our research from much more factual sites. -

😱 I'm with @SueMo on this. Some unique experiences I can pass on. 😂 -
We will be on Sojourn Las Palmos - Lisbon. Yes hopefully one day we will get to meet.

@marazul I'm glad you had a good dinner 😀. I love good Italian food. Heck I love good food.😂 I'm busy organising our next trip in March/April to Lisbon and the Canary Islands. Both places we have never visited before.

Thank you for sharing your truly beautiful photos. We loved our Antartica voyage even though we lost a few days due to bad weather. We were lucky enough to get both port calls in South Georgia and it was amazing, especially Salisbury Plains. -
I am curious why you are stuck as the cruise is many months away? In America you can cancel as I can in Australia with no problem if it is outside the penalty period. It is only the UK bookings that can lose the deposit I thought?

An update to my IT issues. When we were docked in port yesterday my husband suggested I tethered to my phone instead of using Regent and success. Everything opened up as normal and sites I was having trouble with were now accessible. I was hoping to do some research for our cruise next March but now will wait till after we disembark tomorrow. As to using a VPN my husband corrected me in that he had used one but found it didn't do much and usually he can do anything he wants when we travel so he stopped using it. YMMV.

Currently on Regent and in Penthouse so have a coffee machine. We have used it once on the first morning because as noted only small cups. My husband gets coffee or tea every morning from coffee connection and it is very efficient and quick. @Catlover54 I know you have been on Seabourn so know the lines that can occur but this hasn't been the case because there is one barista who makes excellent coffee and three taking orders. He also indicated there didn't seem to be so many special orders, ie double espresso with soy milk etc. Pastries and fruit are served at a counter like they do for early risers in the Obs Bar on Seabourn. We haven't done room service so can't comment on service.

That maybe the case but I have also found sites like well known newspapers I get more limited content from. A minor thing but frustrating nonetheless as not a problem previously when travelling on sea or land. My husband has a VPN for business but it is not something I usually need.

Starlink is definitely a work in Progress. My husband had to get onto a banking site to pay an unexpected bill but couldn't log in. Marcel the IT guy couldn't help and admitted there was a glitch in the system that blocked certain websites or parts for no reason. Thankfully he could get on by using our Telecom daily roaming fee and pay the bill.

Aw Shucks. Looks like a sleeping lion.🥰 -
Very true which is why my husband made a point of asking her to spell it while he wrote it down. He felt that was the better option rather than staring at her badge too long 😜. It is spelt Xhejsica so you were very close.

I for one love liver and onion gravy and if cooked by someone who knows what they're doing it can be a delicacy. This is the same for many recipes with offal. It can be found in high end restaurants with adventurous chefs. -
My husband does the same on his phone which also helps with end of cruise survey as you said. It came in very useful recently as our seating hostess went by Jessica but her name was spelt differently. A friend emailed to get correct spelling as she knew of this habit. Jessica was one of the best hostesses we have had.

Totally agree with you. As with the previous dress code thread at the top of this board this one should be locked as people are getting nasty. No-one is going to change any person's mind.

Beautiful photos. It reminds me I really want to do the Eastern Med again. I just wish Seabourn would stop doing all 7 day sailings in this part of the world. -
If you regularly purchase the suites it is due to name recognition not the suite. I get the same because I have sailed Seabourn frequently either a veranda or named suite. No changes and I do think making it a rule to be nice to staff, smile and try to use their name also makes a difference.
