Hi, On 8/24/14 my husband, son and I will arrive in Houston at noon from Newark, NJ on United. We would like to share a van to the Galveston Port. Is anyone interested?

Howdy gigi17 and welcome to Cruise Critic! emo22.gif

Since you are new to posting on our message board, I sincerely hope the following information will be helpful.

Please note the following portion of the Sticky at the top of this forum titled **DO NOT POST HERE** until you've read the Rules for Posting in this Forum at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=637877:

... Post Shore Excursion Shares In ROLL CALLS

Posts looking for members to "share" your excursion, or posts mentioning that a few more spaces in a van are available and you should contact so and so, are not allowed here or on any of the other forums except the ROLL CALL forums. Use the specific ROLL CALL thread for your ship’s sailing date to find others willing to share your shore excursion tour costs. You are targeting the specific group of people who would be most inclined to share since they are already sailing with you. Do not start a new ROLL CALL thread in a ROLL CALL forum with your share request. Use your existing ROLL CALL thread to post your share request. If you need help finding the specific ROLL CALL thread for your line, ship and sail date, please read What is a ROLL CALL and how do I find mine? at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44773...

Your fellow Roll Call members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread for your ship and sail date. In fact, your Roll Call thread is the ONLY place on Cruise Critic where you and your fellow Roll Call members may post personal ads about sharing tours, excursions, transportation, etc. with each other. There is a "captive audience" since you are all sailing together! emo34.gif

Our Roll Call threads are not just a classified ad area for tour shares. First and foremost, Roll Call threads are the place to get to know other Cruise Critic members who will be sailing with you on your cruise. The best way to do this is to "share" some info about yourself. As time goes on you'll find yourself sharing lots of things -- about the cruise, about your friends and family, about your real life off the Roll Call. Kinda like... real life. The more you get to know one another, the more you share -- and the more you enjoy each others company.

After you read the Sticky for the Roll Call information and have located the specific Roll Call thread for your ship and sail date, read through the whole Roll Call thread for your cruise to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Post an introductory message about yourself on the Roll Call thread using the Post Reply button at the top or bottom of the thread and we feel sure your fellow Roll Call members will post welcoming replies to you on the thread. You will be forming your on-line relationship with the Cruise Critic members sailing with you with further posts and replies.

Once you have gotten to know your fellow Roll Call members, you can then post any share requests. You will receive a much better response to your share requests if you take some time to read the entire Roll Call thread; get to know the other members and allow them to get to know YOU first. That's the spirit of our Roll Calls!

To post a reply to a particular post in any thread, click the Quote button appearing on the post you want to address. The Reply to Thread screen will open with the quoted message already in the message text box with the gray frame. You type your message under the quote in the text box, then click the Submit Reply button. Your post will appear on the thread with the quoted text as well as your message as I have done with this reply to you. That way anyone reading the thread will know which particular post your reply concerns.

I you are sailing on Carnival, you can research for information from your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed your line of ship before. Click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 for our Carnival Cruise Lines forum. That's where all things Carnival are discussed.

If you are sailing on Royal Caribbean, you can research for information from your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed your line or ship before. Click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83 for the Royal Caribbean International forum. That's where all things RCCL are discussed.

If your RCCL cruise is 7 days or longer, don't forget to register for the "Meet & Mingle" Party hosted by RCCL during your cruise for you and the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. To research for information about your ports of call click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 for all our Ports of Call forums. That's where you can research for tours, excursions, transportation, etc. Your fellow Cruise Critic members post their reviews/recommendations there.

Please feel free to use the Search this Forum feature on all Cruise Critic message board forums with your key word or words. It will help narrow down the threads you will want to read during your research. Also, you can see if your inquiry has been asked and answered before. And it probably has... many, many times! emo3.gif

But first, please click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=969846 and read the Sticky titled How To Perform More Detailed and Specific Searches on the Boards. It has important information to help you when using the search feature.

Click the Search this Forum feature toward the top of any forum to open the drop down menu. Type in your key word or words then click the little Go button. I suggest you do not try a search with too many or too common of key words at one time. This will sometime overwhelm the search feature with too many threads to scan and it will time out. From time to time, you may receive an error message that says "Search function is down". PLEASE TRY AGAIN in a few moments. This message will often pop up during the busiest times of the day.

When doing your research, be sure you are on the correct forum. After you have browsed/researched for your topic and possibly not found an answer, use the New Thread button at the top or bottom of the forum and word your new inquiry title so the other members scrolling through the thread titles will know exactly the information you seek. This will help the members so they can reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, port of call, etc. and on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship or sail date in your inquiry if it will help the members with their answers to you.

If you wonder what some of the icons/symbols/arrows on Cruise Critic mean, just use your mouse to hover your cursor over the item and most often a tool-tip will appear with the name or action.

In the future if you want to locate your previous posts, see the Sticky titled Need help finding your previous posts? at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=20645350.

Normally your post on this forum would be removed at once per the Guidelines you agreed to follow when registering for your free Cruise Critic membership. All share requests MUST be posted in the specific Roll Call thread for your cruise as mentioned above. However, since you are a new member I am closing the thread instead so you can see this reply.

I sincerely hope this information will be helpful, even though it is not the type of reply you were expecting. Glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! emo35.gif
